|The Tao Chair.|
Labelled 'an invisible gym for your living room' the chair is specially designed for isometric exercises along the lines of Pilates. By using various pushing and pulling techniques with your arms or legs against the chair's arms you'll watch the calories burn away through in built sensors and a digital display.
Personally I'm not convinced about isometric exercise in general. Not because I don't think it works but I just find it to be a whole new level of boredom. Kind of like watching paint dry with your butt cheeks clenched. At least with regular gym equipment you feel like you're doing something.
Tao Chair website they ask the question "How many calories will you burn during season 1?" I suspect my answer would be hardly any.
I'd get so interested in the show I'd forget to exercise. Then if it was after 9:30pm I'd probably nod off too - if nodding off was an exercise I'd be fitter than Schwarzenegger in his hey day!
I guess if you're disciplined enough and you have joints that scream in protest at any kind of aerobic workout the Tao Chair could be for you.
What I really need is the Tao Bed... burning calories while you sleep. Sounds good to me. Get onto it Tao!
